45" Saw Blade Restoration
I painted this 45” Saw Blade using 'Patio Paint' acrylics in 2007. My Dad constructed a customized stand for it, which we installed at the end of the driveway, incorporating it into our gate. Following prolonged exposure to intense sunlight and various weather, the Saw Blade required an upgrade due to fading. It has never peeled, though. The reverse side, featuring the Confucian quote "Where so ever you go, go with your heart!" is visible when leaving our home and is shaded more from direct sunlight. This side has never undergone touch-ups and remains in good condition. I have clear coated both sides a few times using 'Tremclad' Clear Coat. I am impressed by the remarkable resilience of the paintings after all these years.
Rock Painting Restoration
I originally painted on this approx. 4' x 5' rock in 2007. It is displayed at the end of my driveway. I have had to touch it up a couple times over the last 5 years. I decided to give it a full reconstruction. I have to say I am extremely impressed with the 'Patio Paint(photo attached)' that I originally used, and used again for it's restoration. I would highly recommend it and I do not have shares in the company...lol. It faces west, which means it gets some of the hottest and strongest sun of the day in the summer, along with all the other extreme weather Saskatchewan throws at it. I also clear coat it with 'Tremclad' (photo attached). This should be done once a year, though I have to admit I have not been faithful in doing so.
I have also learned my painting style has changed. There are parts I would do differently if I was starting from scratch. Overall, I am pleased with the outcome.
